GEICO Names Geri Lanier Assistant Vice President

WASHINGTON, D.C., February 28, 2007 - GEICO's board of directors recently named Geraldine Lanier of Gaithersburg, Md., an assistant vice president at the company's headquarters in Chevy Chase, Md.

Lanier will have general responsibility for human resource matters with specific responsibility for its human relations and employment services areas. Since 2002, she served as human resources director.

Lanier began her career at GEICO in 1970 in the underwriting department, serving in a variety of capacities until becoming Maryland re-underwriting manager in 1986. For the next 12 years, she held management positions at GEICO's Fredericksburg, Va., regional office. In 1998, Lanier relocated to GEICO's Dallas, Texas, regional office to serve as staff services director. Lanier was named human resources director at GEICO's headquarters in 2002.

Lanier holds a bachelor's degree in business from the University of Maryland in College Park, Md. She is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) and has a political appointment as alternate commissioner on the planning commission for the City of Gaithersburg.
