GEICO Announces Changes in Top-Level Management Group

WASHINGTON D.C., July 2, 2007 - GEICO, the fourth-largest private passenger auto insurer in the U.S., recently announced several top-level changes in its management group:

  • Robert Miller, CPCU, becomes senior vice president at GEICO's headquarters in Washington, D.C., with responsibilities for actuarial reserving and pricing and underwriting and product management. He formerly served in New York as senior vice president of GEICO's northeast operations.
  • Seth Ingall of Potomac, Md., becomes regional vice president of GEICO's Woodbury, N.Y., regional office, after serving as vice president of GEICO claims. He succeeds Miller in the regional position.
  • Shawn Burklin takes on responsibilities as vice president for GEICO claims operations succeeding Ingall. He formerly headed GEICO's claims activities in Florida.

Robert Miller

Miller had served as senior vice president with general management responsibilities for GEICO's northeast regional office based in Woodbury, N.Y., including the Buffalo, N.Y., office and the New Jersey claims office since 2001.

Miller joined GEICO in 1965 as an underwriter and has served in a variety of positions, including manager of endorsements, director of policyholder service, director of policy processing, director of underwriting, assistant vice president of underwriting, and vice president of the Property Insurance Center, with responsibility for GEICO's homeowner's, renter's and boatowners insurance operations. He also served as Middle Atlantic regional vice president in Fredericksburg, Va. from 1995 until 2001.

Miller holds a bachelor's degree in marketing from the University of Iowa and an M.B.A. from Georgia College. He also holds the Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter designation.

Seth Ingall

Seth Ingall has served as director and vice president for GEICO's claims home office operations for the past two years and will go on to head the company's largest sales and service region.

A native of Highland Park, Ill., Ingall started his career with GEICO in 1986. After earning his law degree, he joined the office of staff counsel where he subsequently served as managing attorney. Ingall went on to serve as administrative senior claims attorney in the company's home office claims department, and assistant vice president for GEICO's claims operations in the company's Fredericksburg, Va., regional office.

Ingall holds a bachelor's degree in communications, legal institutions, economics and government from American University and a law degree from American University's Washington College of Law. He is admitted to the District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia Bars.

Shawn Burklin

In another GEICO appointment, Shawn Burklin was promoted to vice president of GEICO's claims home office operations at the company's headquarters in Washington, D.C. Before assuming his current position, Burklin served as assistant vice president with responsibility for claims operations in GEICO's Lakeland, Fla. regional office. He began his career with GEICO in 1995 and holds an undergraduate degree from Eckerd College in Florida. He completed studies for juris doctor with honors from the University of Florida.
