MACON, Ga., July 23, 2007 - GEICO's board of directors recently elected Gary Musolf of Macon to serve as assistant vice president of Southeast claims in Macon, Ga. He succeeds Jack Harshbarger who served in that position since 1996. Harshbarger retired after 33 years with GEICO. Prior to this latest appointment, Musolf has served as the auto damage director in GEICO's Macon office since 1990.
Originally from northern Virginia, Musolf began his GEICO career as a claim service representative in 1967 at the company's Washington, D.C. headquarters. He moved to Macon in 1974 where he has supervised customer service representatives, telephone claim representatives, and managed auto damage, payment recovery and the claims reports center, where he launched the company's first direct-handling unit in 1989. He also held several claims management positions throughout his GEICO career.

He holds a business degree from Virginia Tech and an MBA from Georgia College.
