FREDERICKSBURG, Va., October 9, 2007 - When Judy Davis of Stafford, Va., joined GEICO in 1962, the times were definitely a-changing.

President Kennedy was dealing with the Cuban missile situation, John Glenn was orbiting the earth in Mercury 6, the New York Yankees were winning the World Series, and Bob Dylan was signing Blowin' in the Wind.

Today Davis celebrated her 45th anniversary with GEICO and says she has a lot of personal memories of her own from 1962.

When she became a clerk at GEICO that year, the company had recently moved to a brand new facility in Chevy Chase, Md. The new headquarters building was big and so was the challenge of helping the company grow into what is now the fourth largest auto insurance company in the country.

"My idea was to work at GEICO until I figured out what career I should pursue," said Davis. "Actually, my career found me."

Davis was promoted to assignments in policy processing and became a supervisor. She then became a manager in the Chevy Chase location in the Property Insurance Center. She made the move to GEICO's Fredericksburg location in 1994 during a company expansion. She took on several new assignments and went on to become sales and service director of GEICO's Property Agency, which has grown to nearly 800 associates.

In special recognition ceremonies Nancy Pierce, regional vice president of the Fredericksburg office, pointed out that Davis built her long and successful insurance career on such principles as dedication to her customers and her colleagues.

"We believe that customer service is our primary product," noted Pierce. "Judy has mastered that lesson and passes it along to new associates as they join the company. We are very proud of Judy's accomplishments and her willingness to help her co-workers succeed."

Davis met her husband, Ralph, at GEICO in 1965 and they married in 1970. He had also joined the company in 1962 and will be celebrating 45 years with GEICO later this month. The couple has been active in Rotary activities.

The Davis' have two married daughters, Melanie Montague of Prince Frederick, Md., and Lisa Pechacek of Stafford, and two grandsons, Nate and Alex.
