GEICO matches pledge during Jerry Lewis Telethon

Gecko® presents $5,000 check to Muscular Dystrophy Association

DALLAS, September 2, 2008 – Twenty-five GEICO associates volunteered their Labor Day holiday to take calls during the 43rd annual Jerry Lewis Telethon that benefits the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA). GEICO was a matching pledge sponsor and challenged the telethon viewers to increase pledge activity.

"GEICO strongly believes in the spirit of volunteerism," said Gary Brown, regional vice president of the company's Dallas office. "We encourage our associates to be involved in the community and the Muscular Dystrophy Association is an organization we are proud to sponsor."

The pledges came rolling in and GEICO presented a check for $5,000 which will help fund the MDA's research, services and education for children and adults affected by muscular dystrophy.

GEICO's Dallas office has sponsored 17 organizations this year, including the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Dallas, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, the American Cancer Society, the Lupus Foundation, Children's Medical Center, Special Olympics and the Nature & Science Museum of Dallas.
