GEICO prepares Catastrophe Response Teams for Hurricane Ike in Texas

HOUSTON, Texas, September 11, 2008 – GEICO's Catastrophe Response Teams (CAT) are on standby and ready to assist policyholders when Ike makes landfall in Texas as projected. GEICO will dispatch these special claims teams to affected areas along the Texas Gulf coast.

All GEICO policyholders are urged to log on to www.geico.com or call 1-800-841-3000 as soon as any storm damage affects them and their claims will be processed immediately.

Gary Brown, GEICO's vice president of Texas operations, says that catastrophe information is available at www.geico.com with preparedness tips, links to other important hurricane information and weather sites, and immediate claims handling capabilities.

"GEICO urges policyholders to take all necessary steps to protect their families, their homes and their vehicles prior to the storm, and reminds all residents to heed state warnings," said Brown.

GEICO is also broadcasting its geico.com Web site and 1-800-841-3000 number on local radio stations so residents can get in immediate contact with the company's 24-hour claims teams in the area.
