GEICO among insurers to present three deserving families with vehicles Dec. 17

PITTSBURG, Calif., December 16, 2008 – Three local families will have a special reason to celebrate this holiday season when they each receive a vehicle from GEICO and two other insurers, AAA and Mercury.

The three vehicles will be presented to the families at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 17, at Mike Rose's Auto Body, an approved GEICO Auto Repair Xpress® shop located at 3001 North Park Blvd. in Pittsburg, CA.

Greg Kalinsky, vice president of GEICO’s West Coast operations, said, "We're proud of the combined effort everyone has put forth and are thrilled to be able to donate a vehicle to a well-deserving family. We are all looking forward to hosting the donation ceremony at one of the shops where we offer our Auto Repair Xpress program."

"Each year, the collision repair industry comes across cars that are written off by either the owner or the insurance company," said Mike Rose, president of Mike Rose Auto Body. "Often times these are older vehicles that just need some mechanical and body work to get them back on the road and perfectly safe to drive. Because we believe these cars are going to waste when there are people who really need them, we decided to do something about it."

Justin Silvers, GEICO auto damage manager, said, "This has really been an excellent team effort. The time we have all put into preparing this vehicle for donation is really worth it when you think about the impact the result will make. We’re happy to be a part of this."
