GEICO Gecko® to make special appearance

WASHINGTON, D.C., November 17, 2009 – Second-graders from public schools throughout Montgomery County are coming to the Music Center at Strathmore this week to hear what really good music played by top-notch musicians sounds like in a first-rate concert hall.

They'll be treated to a special performance concert and they'll be encouraged to sing and even dance from their seats. Among the performers will be young solo artists not far from their own age.

The students will learn to identify the instruments that make up an orchestra and how to identify and follow lines of melody throughout a piece of music.

Some 20,000 students are expected for the three-day series, Nov. 17–19, at the Strathmore in North Bethesda.

GEICO is co-sponsoring the event and bringing the Gecko to put his own lively twist on the musical event.
