New manager Julie Webb proud to announce first sale

BUFFALO, N.Y., Dec. 8, 2009 – Almost immediately after it opened its phone lines recently, GEICO made its first homeowner policy sale from its new GEICO Insurance Agency location in Buffalo.

Julie Webb, manager of GEICO Insurance Agency, was quick to thank Susan Coughlin of North Tonawanda, N.Y., for writing a new homeowners policy for the caller, a GEICO auto policyholder in South Carolina.

GEICO Insurance Agency, a subsidiary of the GEICO Corporation, offers a wide variety of insurance coverages including homeowners, renters, motorsports, boat and umbrella insurance. Although the GEICO Insurance Agency has been offering homeowners insurance (in addition to a wide a variety of other policies) for some time now, GIA’s recent growth called for an expansion. Headquartered in Fredericksburg, Va., and led by John Zinno, vice president, GIA has just expanded to a second office in Buffalo, N.Y.

Since the new Buffalo office opening was announced in August, GEICO has concentrated on hiring dozens of new sales and service associates and training them. Despite the influx of new hires, Webb’s team is still looking to grow.

“Over these last few months, we’ve hired and trained 60 new associates and we’re looking to hire even more,” said Webb. She was appointed to direct the property insurance operation in Buffalo as well as to work with the regional hiring team to oversee the selection of the company’s newest sales and service counselors.

“We’re looking for people with sales and customer service experience who want a company they can grow with. We have an extensive training program that equips our associates to successfully delight both the new and existing customers who call us. There’s lots of opportunity here at GEICO.”

Webb began her own career at GEICO in 2005 with GEICO’s Emerging Leaders program. Prior to her recent move to New York, she served as the training manager for GIA in Fredericksburg and has held several positions in that office and the company’s corporate office in Washington, D.C.

Already off to a very promising start, what does Webb expect to see in GIA’s future? “As far as future sales growth, we’re right on track to have another great year here at GIA,” said Webb.
