GEICO announces new officer assignments

Washington, D.C., June 24, 2010 – The GEICO board of directors recently announced four officer actions:

  • Terry Perkins was named assistant vice president with responsibility for real estate and facilities management,
  • Steve Ostrosky and Steve Smith were elected assistant vice presidents in the information technology division, and
  • Neal Craig was promoted to internal auditor. 

Terry Perkins of Upper Marlboro, Md., becomes assistant vice president of real estate and facilities management, responsible for corporate real estate acquisition and management, corporate fleet, travel, flight, purchasing, supply, warehousing, printing, freight and mail. Perkins joined GEICO in 1985 as a staff auditor, rose through the ranks in internal audit, and headed that department from 2002 to the present. He holds a business management degree from the University of Maryland. He is a Certified Public Accountant, a Certified Internal Auditor and a Certified Information Systems Auditor.

Steve Ostrosky of Columbia, Md., heads a new development organization in the information technology division, responsible for converting all applications and infrastructure to a new platform.  Ostrosky joined GEICO in 1996 as an IT director and helped develop the company’s online policy management system. He holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science from Pennsylvania State University.

Steve Smith of Silver Spring, Md., has responsibility for the Internet business unit and the sales, service, and claim applications in the information technology division. He will also lead the mobile application development effort. Smith holds a bachelor's degree in both business and psychology and a master’s degree in information science from the University of Pittsburgh.

Neal Craig of Washington, D.C., will serve as internal auditor, GEICO’s chief audit executive. His responsibilities will include financial and operational auditing, information technology auditing and the investigation and special audits divisions of the internal audit department. Craig graduated from Mount St. Mary’s in 1985 with a degree in business and finance.  He joined GEICO as an accountant and took on positions of increasing responsibility at corporate headquarters and in the regional offices.
