FREDERICKSBURG, Va., Aug. 26, 2010 – If you are being followed by a golf cart that looks like a Stafford County Sheriff’s car, you don’t need to pull over. It’s the new vehicle GEICO will donate on Aug. 30 to the Stafford County Sheriff’s Department to be used during the annual Safe Driving Rodeo and other related events.
“GEICO wants teens to be safe,” said director of GEICO’s National Print Mail facility, Bill Riddle. He will present the golf cart to Stafford County Sheriff Charles E. Jett at GEICO’s Fredericksburg office on Monday, Aug. 30, at 1 p.m. GEICO regional vice president, John Izzo and vice president of information technology, Tama Ruiz, will take part in the event.
The Safe Driving Rodeo is held each April to allow the best student drivers from each high school in Stafford County to compete in several categories, including a driving obstacle course. GEICO provides volunteers for the Rodeo as well as medals, trophies and goody bags for each student. This year students will have the chance to use the golf cart, complete with siren and lights.
