SAN DIEGO, Calif., Sept. 16, 2010 – GEICO recently named Shawn Burklin regional vice president of the company’s West Coast operations, responsible for CA, HI and AK.
Previously Burklin served as vice president of GEICO’s Southeast operations, headquartered at the company’s Macon, Ga., regional office.
"Our San Diego operation is filled with GEICO associates who are enthusiastic about everything they can do to serve our customers better. I am thrilled to be joining them." Burklin said.
Burklin began his GEICO career in 1995 in the claims department in the company’s Fredericksburg, Va., regional office, and soon afterward entered the company’s executive management program. In 1997 his legal background led to his assignment as a claims attorney and by 2000 he was named a senior claims attorney.
Burklin went on to serve as assistant vice president of claims for GEICO’s Lakeland, Fla., regional office before being named vice president of corporate claims in 2007.
He holds an undergraduate degree from Eckerd College in Florida and earned a juris doctor degree, with honors, from the University of Florida.
"Shawn’s years and experience with GEICO have given him a great knowledge of our operations. I know he’ll be an asset to our San Diego office," said senior vice president Don Lyons.
