VIRGINIA BEACH, Va., Nov. 8, 2010 – GEICO and the Urban League of Hampton Roads, Inc., have joined together to kick off the “Speak Now! Act Now!” symposium on Wednesday, Nov. 10, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Norfolk, Va.
The symposium is part of the local Urban League affiliate’s ‘100 Lives Changed’ campaign, celebrating its Centennial Anniversary. The event will feature a line-up of local and national business and education leaders to discuss the economy, employment, entrepreneurship and the environment. CNN political analyst Roland Martin will serve as the guest speaker and panel moderator.
“GEICO and the Urban League have a history that dates back more than 40 years,” said Joe Thomas, GEICO regional vice president. “We are pleased to be working together to raise awareness on a multitude of issues as well as creating opportunities for real world solutions.”
Rynthia Rost, GEICO vice president of public affairs will serve as a panelist in a session titled: “Equipping our Communities for Success.” Additional panelists include: Gilbert Yochum, Old Dominion University; Alfred Bundy, Bundy Productions; Kelvin Boston, author; Steven Papamarcos, Norfolk State University; Monica Jefferson, Virginia Housing Development Authority; Tracey Keller, Girl Scouts Council of Colonial Coast; and Raymond Willis, Jr., Heritage Funding.
