WASHINGTON, D.C., Feb. 22, 2011 – George Rogers of Lakeland, Fla., has been named to the board of directors of the GEICO companies. Rogers has served as regional vice president of GEICO’s Florida operations since 2002. GEICO is the second largest auto insurer in the state.
"George has proven throughout his illustrious career to be a creative thinker and resourceful problem-solver," said Tony Nicely, GEICO chairman. "Those skills will make him a valuable contributor as a member of the board."
Rogers joined GEICO in 1969. He has held a number of positions of increasing responsibility during his career, including all levels of liability claims and claims management, claims systems manager, director of claims performance review and regional liability director. In 1993, Rogers was named assistant vice president of claims in GEICO’s regional office in Macon, Ga. He was promoted to vice president of claims in 1996, and in 1997, Rogers was named the company’s chief claims officer. In 2000, he was chosen as GEICO’s regional vice president in Dallas, Texas, before taking the assignment in Lakeland, Fla.
Rogers holds a bachelor’s degree in business from the University of Maryland where he graduated cum laude. He currently serves on the board of directors for Florida Southern College. Rogers has previously served on the board of the Lakeland Chamber of Commerce and the United Way of Central Florida, National Association of Independent Insurers’ Executive Claims Committee, the Board of Governors for the National Insurance Crime Bureau and other industry advisory boards. He previously served on the Board of Governors for GEICO, the Macon Georgia Chamber of Commerce and the American Cancer Society.
