WASHINGTON, D.C., May 31, 2011 – GEICO has thrown the first pitch in the expanding arena of mobile sports applications. The insurance company has launched a new mobile arcade app featuring the iconic Gecko in a baseball game.
As more people use their mobile devices for sports and entertainment, the GEICO mobile team has created the GEICO Arcade. The GEICO Arcade is a fun, free app that is geared towards diehard video gamers and nostalgic sports fans alike.
"With the Major League Baseball season now in full swing, we thought it was appropriate to develop a baseball game featuring GEICO’s iconic Gecko," said Steve Smith, GEICO assistant vice president for information technology. "The Gecko Baseball game is an amusing way for geico.com visitors to pass the time."
The GEICO Arcade app is free to users and is now available for iPhone and Android. In the coming months, GEICO plans to launch a cache of mobile app games to join the GEICO Gecko Baseball, including a GEICO themed golf game.
