“GEICO has done it again,” said 2010 United Way Campaign Chair George McCanless, president and publisher of The Telegraph.  “They just keep on raising more money each year and United Way and our 33 Partner Agencies applaud them for their success.  More than 100,000 local people will be helped this year thanks to the generosity of GEICO employees.”

Their corporate gift also increased—from $150,000 in 2009 to $159,000 in 2010, an additional $9,000 in new campaign dollars.  Combined with the corporate gift, the grand total raised by GEICO was $856,712 which is $18,000 more than the company and its associates raised in 2009.

“I never cease to be amazed at the dedication and leadership of our employee committee, this year led by campaign coordinators Verlene Pitts, Cheryl Gowder and Serena Galloway,” said Mary Zarcone, southeastern regional vice president of GEICO.  “And we never could have done this without the support of our GEICO associates who are always willing to help  the people in their community.”

According to GEICO’s coordinators, “We applaud our fellow GEICO associates.  We have had outstanding campaigns over the past years and that speaks volumes about the caring spirit of our associates. We just want to thank our coworkers for coming through once again, as we knew they would!”
