FREDERICKSBURG, Va., March 17, 2011 – More than 700 Special Olympics athletes from across Virginia will kickoff March Madness by competing in state-level full-court, half-court and basketball skills competitions at various Stafford County middle and high schools.
The GEICO All-Star Friday Night Opening Ceremony will be held on March 18, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Mountain View High School. The Opening Ceremony will feature a Pep Rally, the lighting of the Olympic Cauldron and a basketball game between GEICO’s Fredericksburg Associates and the Special Olympics of Virginia staff and volunteers. On Saturday, March 19, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Special Olympics championships will begin at various schools throughout Stafford County. For a full schedule, visit www.volunteer2cheer.com.
