CHICAGO, Ill., June 1, 2011 – The Wounded Warriors Project’s 2011 Soldier Ride National Tour is on its way to Chicago. Sponsored by GEICO, the one-day cycling event encourages the public to honor our nation’s wounded warriors who battle the physical and psychological effects of war, helping to restore their physical and emotional well-being.
"Soldier Ride is remarkable event that highlights the bravery, courage and sacrifice of our injured servicemen and women," said Michael Baker, GEICO director of military marketing. The opening ceremonies will take place on Saturday, June 4, at 7:45 a.m. at Kaneland Senior High School in Maple Park, Ill. The route will take participants 25 miles along the scenic Lake Michigan waterfront ending in Downtown Chicago. There will be food and entertainment for riders and participants at the kick off site.
