WOODBURY, N.Y., August 2, 2011 – In the wake of the recent hail storms in New York, GEICO's Catastrophe Claims Team (CAT) and claims teams are ready to assist policyholders affected.
GEICO urges policyholders whose cars have been damaged to report their claims as early as possible. To reach GEICO's claims team anytime, 24 hours a day, customers can report the claim on GEICO’s website www.geico.com or call 1-800-841-3000.
"We are aware of the serious damage that hail storms can inflict on vehicles, often making it difficult or impossible to use your car," said Nancy Pierce, GEICO’s vice president of claims. "We have added additional staff to make sure all claims are handled quickly so that we can get our policyholders back on the road as soon as possible."
If your vehicle has been damaged by the recent storms, especially if windows are broken, GEICO recommends covering it with plastic or other material to protect it from further damage.
