GEICO announced today that it will serve as the lead sponsor for the largest summer destination for motorcycle enthusiasts from across the U.S. More than half a million people are expected to converge on Sturgis, S.D., August 6-13, 2011, for the 71st Annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally.
“Sturgis is one of the largest and most well-known motorcycle events in the world,” said Ted Ward, GEICO vice president. “2011 marks the seventh year we have been participating, and we are excited to serve as a lead sponsor. GEICO will have activities and events at two locations in Sturgis. On Main Street, there will be a “Meet and Greet Gecko” and a roaming Gecko for the fans along with tons of giveaways. At the Buffalo Chip’s location, the #13 GEICO Toyota Camry NASCAR will be on display.
Participants can also see the custom-built Gecko bike created by Paul Teutul Jr., of the Discovery Channel’s television show, “American Choppers," as well as have a chance to win the Buffalo Chip Victory bike sponsored by GEICO.
