Maryland's Montgomery County Family Justice Center Presents Corporate Legacy Award to GEICO

Washington, D.C., October 5, 2011 – In recognition of helping Maryland’s Montgomery County Family Justice Center (MCFJC) fulfill its mission of providing a safe, comprehensive center for domestic violence victims, GEICO was selected as a recipient of the Corporate Legacy Award, presented by the MCFJC Foundation.

The MCFJC Foundation was looking to open a center that provided services for domestic violence victims all under one roof.  GEICO was able to help make that possible through its support of the MCFJC, which opened in April 2009.

"GEICO’s involvement came at a time where we needed to provide a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere for our clients," said Resa Levy, executive director of MCFJC. "We are thankful for GEICO’s support in being a committed corporate partner as well as understanding our needs to provide a lifeline of services for victims of domestic violence."

Since its opening, MCFJC has served more than 3,000 people by providing a variety of comprehensive services such as counseling, criminal investigation, shelter placement and pro-bono legal support. GEICO accepted the award at MCFJC’s 2nd Annual Benefit on Oct. 2, 2011, held at the Hilton Hotel in Rockville, Md.

"These individuals are the ones who strive daily to heal the lives of those impacted by domestic violence."
