DALLAS, May 3, 2012 – Students at Ranchview High School in Irving, Texas, will be treated to a celebrity appearance at their prom this Saturday: the GEICO Gecko will be joining the party. The big question is: Does he need a date?
The mascot will be joined by the GEICO Regional Teen Driving Team at the Irving Convention Center as they meet and greet students, pose for pictures and promote safe driving. After the prom the festivities will continue with a post-prom party, which will keep the fun going until 4:00 a.m. and provide a fun, safe, drug- and alcohol-free alternative to other parties. Attendees will bring a change of clothes for the after-party, and GEICO is providing 500 bags in which they can store their belongings.
“We’re proud to work with Ranchview High School to reinforce safe driving habits,” said John Balfour, regional marketing coordinator in GEICO’s Dallas office. “Prom is a really special occasion for the students, and we’re thrilled to contribute to the night’s festivities.”
Prior to the event, the Regional Teen Driving Team stopped by the high school on Wednesday, May 2, to speak to students about the importance of safe driving and how to stay focused on the road. They also provided the students brochures and other resources that can be found on GEICO’s teen driving site.
