Washington, D.C., June 4, 2012 -- Rick Hoagland has been named vice president of claims home office at GEICO. He succeeds Nancy Pierce, who was recently named regional vice president in GEICO’s Fredericksburg, Va. office.
Hoagland began his GEICO career in 1994 as a telephone claims representative in GEICO’s Fredericksburg office. He took on assignments in sales, service, underwriting, and was selected for GEICO’s executive assistant program. In 2009, Hoagland was elected assistant vice president of claims in GEICO’s Midwest regional operations in Macon, Ga. and was later named assistant vice president of underwriting there in 2010.
He earned his bachelor’s degree in finance from the College of William and Mary.
“Rick has done a great job for the company in claims and underwriting,” said Don Lyons, GEICO’s senior vice president. “Rick’s breadth of experience will serve him and GEICO well as he takes on this new challenge.”
