WASHINGTON, D.C., September 21, 2012 – With a push of a button from your mobile device, GEICO has made it a lot easier for drivers to access emergency road services using the updated GEICO application. At any time of the day or night, drivers facing an emergency situation on the road will now have the ability to request emergency assistance from their smartphones.
“The ease and convenience our policyholders have come to expect with GEICO’s Emergency Road Service (ERS) is now right at their fingertips with the updates to the GEICO app,” says Pete Meoli, GEICO mobile development team manager. “The new features are part of a natural evolution to continually enhance our customer interactions in a manner that meets their ongoing needs.”
GEICO’s ERS offers protection for many problems that are not typically handled by auto insurance coverage. GEICO customers will no longer need to search for a phone number or wait on hold to get help for situations such as being locked out of the car; jump starting a dead battery; changing a flat tire; towing or running out of gas. With a few simple steps from a smartphone, the GEICO app determines the driver’s location and a GEICO counselor sends help to the area.
The service is available 24 hours a day 365 days a year.
The emergency road service functionality of the GEICO app is available for iPhone and Android platforms. The updated version of the GEICO app that includes the emergency road service and other great features can be downloaded from the Apple iTunes Store or Google Play.
