Confused by rental car insurance? Unsure if your auto insurance provides this kind of coverage or if you should purchase additional rental coverage?
Before renting a car, you need to make two calls. First, call GEICO to ask what type of coverage for rental cars you have included in your regular auto insurance. Second, call the credit card company you will be using to pay for the car rental. Some credit cards provide additional coverage, but make sure you understand the limits involved. Many credit cards provide additional coverage but limit the type and amount of coverage.
If you don't own a car but still need affordable car rental insurance, ask your GEICO representative about a non-owner liability policy and/or personal effects coverage available on your homeowners policy or renters insurance policy. Non-owner liability coverage may provide liability protection when you rent or borrow a car while personal effects coverage can make sure your possessions are covered away from home. Finally, an umbrella policy is also a great way to help you limit liability across many different types of situations, including renting a car.
