Registering A Vehicle in Massachusetts

I've just purchased a car from a dealer.
In order to register your vehicle, the Registry of Motor Vehicles requires you to provide them with a completed Application for Registration and Title (RMV-1) form. How we process your RMV-1 form depends on the type of purchase you've made.
My Dealer Offers Electronic Vehicle Registration
Please have your dealer complete and sign the form, and fax it to GEICO, Attn: your policy number, at 1-866-955-3146. Once we receive a completed and signed copy of the form from your dealer, we will complete the insurance portions and fax the form back to the number provided. This will occur within 30 minutes of the time we receive the form.
My Dealer Does Not Offer Electronic Vehicle Registration
Please have your dealer complete and sign the form, and mail it to us at the following address:

Once we receive a completed and signed copy of the form from your dealer, we will complete the insurance portions of the form and return it.
In a rush? For expedited processing, you may overnight mail the form to us, and if you would like us to return it using overnight mail, you must include a pre-paid overnight envelope.
I've just purchased a car from an individual.
Please call us at 1-800-841-3000 and we will email an electronic RMV-1 form to the email address you provided or send a physical form to your mailing address. For your convenience, GEICO will complete the insurance portions of the form for you. Please complete the other portions of the form before you take it to the Registry of Motor Vehicles.
I've just moved into Massachusetts.

Changes to Registration, Plates or Insurance
There are other common situations requiring RMV forms; we've outlined some below. If any of the following conditions apply to you, please call us at 1-800-841-3000 and we will gladly send you the RMV-3 form with the insurance portions of the form completed for you.

Although not required, you may request an updated registration showing GEICO as your insurance company. Note: The RMV may charge a fee for this update of your registration.
- I'm reinstating my lapsed insurance policy –
You have had a lapse of insurance coverage of over 30 days prior to purchasing your new GEICO policy.
Changes To Registration Or Plates
- I'm changing to a different plate number or plate type.
- I need to change the information shown on my current registration.
- I'm renewing my current registration (same name/same vehicle) and...
• I did not receive a printed renewal by mail; or
• I received a renewal form which contained incorrect information.
