New Jersey Defensive Driver Discount

If your policy is rated for the state of New Jersey, you could save up to 5% on applicable coverages by taking a defensive driving course. One way to take advantage of this discount is through an on-line defensive driving course offered by the National Safety Council. This course is provided at a discounted price of $19.95 for GEICO policyholders.

In order to receive the discount from GEICO, eligible policyholders have the following options available:

  1. Submit a copy of the course completion certificate via fax to (716) 408-9118, attention: "Policy Processing;" or
  2. Mail a copy to:

    Attn: Region 8 Policy Processing
    P. O. Box 9506
    Fredericksburg, Virginia 22403-9506

Be sure to submit the certificate within 90 days of course completion and include your policy number on all correspondence. Once the certificate has been processed, you will receive verification of the savings by mail.

In New Jersey, you may be eligible for this discount if:

  • You have voluntarily completed a motor vehicle accident prevention (defensive driving) course sponsored by the National Safety Council, the United Safety Council, the American Automobile Association or the American Association of Retired Persons, or an equivalent program approved by the Department of Public Safety.
