Girls Night Out: GEICO teams up June 8 with the Washington Mystics to host Girl Scouts Night
Washington, D.C., June 6, 2013 – Hundreds of cheering Girl Scouts will be in attendance on Saturday, June 8, at Verizon Center in Washington, D.C. GEICO and the Girl Scout Council of the Nation's Capital have teamed up with the Washington Mystics to host "Girl Scouts Night at the Mystics" basketball game.
"The Mystics organization is proud to once again be partnering with GEICO for Girl Scouts Night," said Washington Mystics senior vice president, chief marketing officer Joe Dupriest. "Girl Scouts of the USA is a tremendous organization that's instrumental in the development of many outstanding young girls and we look forward to seeing them cheer us on and earn their Mystics patch this Saturday."
The Girl Scouts will receive a commemorative Mystics patch for attending the game and will have a chance to participate in several special fan experiences such as watching pre-game warm-ups from the Mystics bench; creating a fan tunnel for players entering the court; participating in the ball exchange ceremony where fans receive a basketball during player introductions; acting as co-captain and meeting with team captains; and attending the post-game autograph session.
GEICO is an ongoing supporter of the Girl Scouts nationwide. The GEICO/Girl Scouts Life Skills Challenge partnership encourages Girl Scouts to be safe and responsible drivers, citizens and family members and helps to fulfill their mission of building girls of courage, confidence and character who will make the world a better place. GEICO representatives and the Gecko will be at the game to present a check for $20,000 to the Girl Scouts of the Nation's Capital.
"GEICO is honored to continue our relationship with the Girl Scouts and the Washington Mystics organization," said Rynthia Rost, GEICO vice president of public affairs. "The GEICO/Girl Scouts Life Skills Challenge provides an energetic platform that educates young women on the importance of being great citizens in the community while encouraging them to be safe drivers."
