BUFFALO, N.Y., June 19, 2013 – New York Lieutenant Governor Robert J. Duffy joined GEICO Chairman and CEO Tony Nicely and Berkshire Hathaway Chairman and CEO Warren Buffett today for a celebration ceremony at GEICO's Buffalo regional office to congratulate the company for creating more than 2,500 jobs in Western New York.

"Today is a milestone for GEICO and for the economic vitality of Western New York," said Lieutenant Governor Duffy. "Governor Cuomo has made it a top priority to rebuild the Upstate economy and promote job growth, and we are very pleased that companies like GEICO continue to invest in the Empire State. I applaud GEICO, one of the fastest-growing major auto insurers in the country, for bringing 2,500 jobs to Getzville in just over nine years. GEICO's success in the region will continue to have a profound impact on all Western New Yorkers."

"This is an extremely proud day for all of us at GEICO," said Nicely. "To all of our elected officials, community partners and friends in Western New York, we want to thank you for your unwavering support in reaching this goal."

Rick Hoagland, regional vice president of GEICO's Buffalo office, also welcomed Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz and leading civic and community officials to the event and noted that the success of the office can be attributed to the region's tremendous associates. "I've been blown away by the talent, drive and positive attitude of our associates here in Western New York," said Hoagland. "We're still looking to hire quite a few more associates this year, and we have a lot of great openings right now."
