GEICO partners with the USO to support troops and military families
Sponsorship Will Help Three USO Locations: USO Central Florida, USO Georgia and USO of Illinois
WASHINGTON, D.C, February 13, 2014 – Wherever America's troops and their families are serving, the USO is there, providing them with programs and services they need most. GEICO has teamed up with the USO to continue that support by providing funding to three USO locations: USO Central Florida, USO Georgia and USO of Illinois. The money will go toward programs at the locations that, among other things, help our nation's deployed troops and military families stay connected during deployments and live fulfilling lives after injury. These programs include USO Operation Phone Home and USO Warrior and Family Care.
"We are extremely lucky to have partners like GEICO that understand how important it is to lift the spirits of our nation's troops and military families," said USO regional vice president Jeff Hill. "Every day they make countless sacrifices on our behalf, from putting their lives on the line to missing out on special moments with their loved ones. By supporting programs they need and deserve, we're letting them know we are grateful for their service and are always by their side."
In addition to funding USO programs, the partnership will also provide opportunities for GEICO to build relationships with USO centers and volunteer at USO events that support our military heroes.
"The USO provides important services to our men and women in uniform, both at home and abroad, and GEICO is excited to partner with these three USO centers to support our servicemen and servicewomen and their families," said Mike Baker, GEICO's director of military marketing. "I've visited USO centers throughout the country, and each time I come away inspired by the incredible work they do to buoy the spirits of our troops and their families."
The USO has more than 160 locations around the world that provide troops and their families with programs, entertainment and a home away from home. GEICO is a long-time supporter of the United States armed forces and the USO. Tony Nicely, chairman of GEICO, is a member of USO of Metropolitan Washington-Baltimore's Honorary Board Committee, and GEICO is a member of USO-Metro's Circle of Stars.
