Coast Guard's Petty Officer Second Class Jennifer Gramata earns GEICO Military Service Award

WASHINGTON, D.C., April 28, 2015 – GEICO is proud to announce that Petty Officer Second Class Jennifer Gramata is the Coast Guard recipient of the 2014 GEICO Military Service Award for her work in fire safety and fire prevention. Petty Officer Gramata is currently assigned as a Marine Inspector, Coast Guard Sector Delaware Bay, in the Prevention Department in Philadelphia, Pa.

Petty Officer Gramata serves as an exemplary leader in the Facility and Container Compliance Branch. Her technical savvy and dedication allowed her unit to identify and uphold fire and safety requirements that have positively impacted more than 75 container yards, oil terminals and hazardous materials facilities in Delaware, Pennsylvania and New Jersey, promoting the safety of more than 3,000 commercial vessels calling on our ports.

She also developed professional relationships to educate facility operators and closely coordinated with local fire marshals. Petty Officer Gramata's efforts raised the fire prevention awareness of the facility's employees and ensured numerous vessel port calls were conducted safely with a minimized threat of fire.

GEICO chairman Tony Nicely presented Petty Officer Gramata the award at a ceremony yesterday in Washington, D.C. "The tremendous undertaking by our servicemen and servicewomen to improve military and civilian communities in our country is a remarkable achievement, and GEICO is proud to honor the contributions from those individuals who might otherwise go unrecognized," Nicely said. "Petty Officer Gramata's distinctive accomplishments reflect greatly upon herself and the brave members of the US Coast Guard. She has proven through her efforts in fire safety and fire prevention that she is an exemplary member in the community and is deserving of this gracious honor."
