GEICO bringing end-to-end ridesharing coverage to Texans
DALLAS, June 15, 2015 – If you drive for an on-demand Transportation Network Company (TNC) like Uber, Lyft, Sidecar and other similar companies in Texas, you'll want to know that GEICO is now offering a new auto insurance product in the Lone Star State that covers both your personal and ridesharing needs.
"States have started passing laws that require TNC drivers to have more than personal auto insurance since they're transporting people around," said Robert Miller, GEICO senior vice president. "We're excited to offer an affordable, comprehensive product to Texans that covers vehicles for personal use, ridesharing and other on-demand services."
GEICO first introduced its ridesharing product in Virginia and Maryland earlier this year, and market share is rapidly growing in both states. GEICO offers ridesharing coverage through GEICO Commercial at a price significantly lower than taxi and commercial rates.
