Georgia ridesharing drivers can now get covered with GEICO
MACON, Ga., June 22, 2015 – If you drive for Uber, Lyft, Sidecar and other similar Transportation Network Companies (TNC) in Georgia, you'll want to know that GEICO has continued the expansion of its new auto insurance product in the Peach State that covers both your personal and ridesharing needs.
"More and more people are becoming TNC drivers to supplement their incomes," said Rhett Rayburn, GEICO regional vice president. "We're pleased to offer these Georgia drivers an affordable, end-to-end product that covers vehicles for personal use, ridesharing and other on-demand services."
GEICO offers ridesharing coverage through GEICO Commercial at a price significantly lower than taxi and commercial rates. GEICO first introduced its ridesharing product in Virginia and Maryland earlier this year and feedback from customers on pricing and service has been positive.
"We worked hard to develop a hassle-free product that covers both personal and ridesharing use and meets the needs of our customers both in coverage and pricing," said Othello Powell, director of GEICO commercial lines. "The insurance applies whether or not the app is on and whether or not you have a passenger. It's also priced significantly less than a commercial policy so that TNC drivers can save money, even if they're only occasionally using their car for on-demand services."
