GEICO's Virginia Beach office reaches one million policies in force

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va., May 19, 2016 – GEICO's Virginia Beach office, serving customers in Virginia and North Carolina, reached a significant milestone last month by writing its one millionth policy in force.

The one millionth policy for the Virginia Beach office was purchased by a customer in Cary, N.C., on April 28. The policy was sold by GEICO associate Jermaine Peterson of Virginia Beach, who has received GEICO's Chairman's Club distinction as a top sales performer each year since joining the company in 2012.

GEICO is the second-largest auto insurer in Virginia and the third-largest auto insurer in North Carolina.

"Reaching one million policies in force is a tremendous accomplishment, and I'd like to commend every associate for contributing to this achievement," said Nancy Pierce, GEICO senior vice president. "With such a strong commitment from the entire team, the Virginia Beach office is well on its way to achieving more milestones as GEICO continues to steadily gain market share in Virginia and North Carolina."

GEICO first came to Virginia Beach in 1963. Currently, the office employs more than 2,500 associates, and has been named a best place to work in Virginia by both Virginia Business and Best Companies Group.

GEICO (Government Employees Insurance Company), the second-largest auto insurer in the U.S., was founded in 1936 and insures more than 28 million vehicles.
