GEICO names Rick Hoagland vice president of New York operations

WOODBURY, N.Y., July 27, 2016 – GEICO has named Rick Hoagland vice president of its New York regional operations. GEICO is the largest private passenger auto insurer in New York.

Hoagland joined GEICO in 1994 as a telephone claims representative and advanced through several assignments before becoming a manager in 2002. Hoagland then completed GEICO's executive assistant program at the company's headquarters in Chevy Chase, Md., and was named director of claims home office systems.

In 2009, Hoagland was elected assistant vice president of claims for GEICO's Midwest operations in Macon, Ga., and assumed the role of assistant vice president of underwriting for the same region a year later. He was then promoted to vice president of GEICO's corporate-wide claims operations in 2012. Hoagland went on to serve as regional vice president at GEICO's Buffalo regional office, where he oversaw insurance operations for New England states and New Jersey.

"Rick has demonstrated sound leadership in all his management roles, and has driven consistent growth running GEICO's region that includes New England and New Jersey," said Bill Roberts, GEICO president and chief operating officer. "With Rick's skills and expertise, I'm confident GEICO will continue to exceed expectations for customers in New York, where we're already the number one auto insurer."

In Woodbury, Hoagland succeeds John Pham, who was named vice president of GEICO's Virginia Beach region and the company's military, motorcycle and recreational vehicles division.

Hoagland graduated from The College of William and Mary, and holds a B.B.A. in finance.

GEICO (Government Employees Insurance Company), the second-largest auto insurer in the U.S., was founded in 1936 and insures more than 27 million vehicles.
