Ward named GEICO assistant VP of underwriting/product management
CHEVY CHASE, Md., Feb. 28, 2019 - The GEICO Board of Directors has elected Russell (Rusty) Ward assistant vice president of underwriting and product management at the company's headquarters in Chevy Chase, Maryland. Since 2014, he had served as director of customer service at GEICO's Lakeland, Florida, regional office.
Ward began his GEICO career as a sales counselor in Lakeland in 2000. He advanced to sales coach in 2002 and sales supervisor a year later. He was promoted to product analyst at GEICO headquarters in 2006. Ward became assistant product manager in 2007 and product manager a year later. In 2011, he was named director of pricing and product management, with responsibility for GEICO's West Coast operations. He served in that role until he took on the directorship in Lakeland in 2014.
Ward earned a master of business administration degree from the University of Phoenix in Tampa, Florida, and a bachelor's degree in liberal arts and philosophy from Southeastern University in Lakeland. He also holds the CPCU designation and is a GEICO Certified Underwriter.
