GEICO to host free car seat inspection event Saturday; book an appointment now

WOODBURY, N.Y., Sept. 18, 2019 – GEICO has partnered with EAC Network (Education and Assistance Corporation) again to offer its annual child safety seat inspection event for local Long Island families. EAC Network reports nearly three out of every four car seats it inspects are installed improperly, which can lead to the seats not offering optimal protection during a crash.

The inspection event, which coincides with National Child Passenger Safety Week, will take place on Saturday, Sept. 21, in the drive-in claims bay at GEICO's office at 750 Woodbury Road, Woodbury, N.Y. Trained professionals from EAC Network will be on hand to work with parents and coach them through using their vehicle's LATCH (Lower anchors and tethers for children) system.

Parents interested in participating must contact EAC Network ahead of time at (631) 648-7100 x219 to book an appointment. Each appointment lasts 20 minutes. To prepare for their appointments, parents will need to provide the following details to EAC Network: year, make and model of their vehicle; height and weight of their child; and the brand of their car seat.

"Child passenger safety is one of the many road safety initiatives we prioritize at GEICO, which is why we're eager to have EAC Network return to our office for a fourth year," said Rick Hoagland, GEICO senior vice president. "EAC Network's expertise has helped dozens of Long Island families complete a careful one-on-one training with an EAC Network inspector."
