What is the purpose of the photo inspection?

The state of New Jersey requires this inspection to protect you against insurance fraud and help reduce the cost of Comprehensive and Collision physical damage insurance coverage.

Is there a fee for the inspection, and how long will it take?

There is NO CHARGE to you for this inspection. It takes approximately 15 minutes to complete the report and photographs.

Where should I take my vehicle to be inspected?

CARCO has an extensive network of inspection sites strategically located throughout the state of New Jersey ready to serve your inspection needs. Call them at (888) 242-1200 or visit CARCO to receive a current listing of inspection facilities near you. Please contact the CARCO inspection site prior to bringing your vehicle as inspections may be cancelled due to inclement weather.

What can I expect at the inspection site?

The CARCO inspector will complete a state inspection form and document the general condition of your car, your options and accessories, vehicle identification number (VIN), mileage, etc., and then take photographs of your car. Once the inspection has been completed, you will be provided with a copy of the official inspection report. The original report and photographs will be processed by CARCO and forwarded to GEICO.

Please keep your copy for your records. You can also forward a copy of your inspection to us, to ensure your policy is updated accordingly. Be sure to include your policy number on all forms.
