Summary of Changes

The coverage changes that will take effect in Wisconsin on November 1, 2009, that may affect your insurance premium are as follows:

UNINSURED MOTORIST COVERAGE

  • Uninsured Motorist coverage is mandatory at minimum limits of $100,000 per person/$300,000 per occurrence.
  • If your policy limits for Uninsured Motorist coverage were below this new mandatory minimum, they have been adjusted at renewal to comply with the new minimum standard. You may review the new premium amount for this coverage on your policy declarations sheet.

UNDERINSURED MOTORIST COVERAGE

  • Underinsured Motorist coverage is mandatory at minimum limits of $100,000 per person/$300,000 per occurrence.
  • If your policy limits for Underinsured Motorist coverage were below this new mandatory minimum, they have been adjusted at renewal to comply with the new minimum standard.
  • If you previously did not carry Underinsured Motorist coverage, this coverage has been issued at the mandatory minimum limits. You may review the new premium amount for this coverage on your policy declarations sheet.

MEDICAL PAYMENTS

  • The minimum required Medical Payments coverage increases from $1,000 per person to $10,000 per person. If your policy previously included Medical Payments coverage, you may review the new premium amount for this coverage on your policy declarations sheet.
  • Medical Payments coverage is not mandatory; you may reject it by completing and returning a Wisconsin Information and Option Form.
  • If you previously elected to reject Medical Payments coverage on your policy, it has not been included on your policy with these changes.
  • If you want to include Medical Payments coverage on your policy, please complete and return a Wisconsin Information and Option Form.

As a result of these new, state mandated increases to the Minimum Financial Responsibility limits, you may see an increase in your policy premium. We understand the difficulty this increase may cause. We encourage you to contact our professional service agents 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at (800) 841-3000 for assistance.
