GEICO has a long history of supporting the men and women who serve in the Military—over 75 years, in fact! GEICO’s Military team shows its appreciation by offering discounts for Active Duty and Retired members and scholarships for members who are highly involved in their communities. And nowhere is GEICO’s commitment to the Military more clear than its involvement in the Ride 2 Recovery program.
Ride 2 Recovery began in 2008, helping improve the health and wellness of wounded troops through outdoor cycling activities. There are several Ride 2 Recovery events happening throughout the year in cities from coast to coast, as well as overseas locations.
It’s easy to get involved with Ride 2 Recovery. Project HERO is the military-based recovery and rehabilitation program that brings Ride 2 Recovery to Veterans. Healing Heroes (those who are wounded, ill or injured) can contact their local Project HERO cycling representative to get involved at their post or base. Volunteers are also needed for existing Project HERO programs and to start new programs at Military and Veterans Affairs (VA) sites. There are also opportunities for medical professionals at Military and VA clinics and hospitals.
GEICO’s support of the U.S. Military goes beyond Ride 2 Recovery. Each year the GEICO Military Service Awards Program presents awards to one member from each branch of the Military, the National Guard and the Reserves who has been highly involved in the community in areas such as preventing drug and alcohol abuse, fire safety and accident prevention.
