’Tis the season for a great American tradition—camping! It’s a wonderful way to get the family together, enjoy the country’s natural beauty and stay within your budget. But if you haven’t camped in a while, or if it’s your first time out, you might not know where to start. That’s why we’ve tapped into the vast knowledge of Kampgrounds of America (KOA). With more than 487 campgrounds across North America, they meet everyone’s needs—from traditional sleeping-under-the-stars campers to RVers.  Here are some of KOA’s top tips for campers.

Incorporate family fun on your journey

It’s easy to forget about the trip to the destination. Though the whole family may be excited about pitching a tent and getting the fire started, they may not be as thrilled about the drive. Here are some great ideas for how to keep kids busy and entertained as you head toward your camping destination.

Try sleeping in cabins

Maybe sleeping on the ground just isn’t your thing or you don’t own an RV yet. We get it. Thankfully, KOA has cabin camping options across the country. Find out what they’re all about and if there’s one close to you.

Pick gear that fits

Whether you’re in a car or an RV, space is always a concern when packing for a big camping adventure. Thankfully, there are lots of wonderful gadgets and gear items that collapse, affording you more room than you ever imagined.

Save fuel when RVing

RVs offer a great way to see America. However, they can be costly to fill up on a regular basis. KOA RV expert Mark Polk offers maintenance and driving tips that will help you conserve fuel and lessen your environmental footprint.

Bring your motorcycle

Warm weather, camping and a beautiful motorcycle ride all go together quite wonderfully. Here, KOA shares some tips on how to pack and prep for a motorcycle camping experience.

Use recipes that work

Don’t worry about what you’ll make when you’re out camping. KOA has a library of tried and true recipes that will work in a number of different camping situations.
