New York Defensive Driver Discount

If you are a resident of New York, you could save up to 10% on applicable coverages by taking a defensive driving course. An on-line course is currently not available in New York. To find out more about course locations near you, please call Accident Prevention Courses at (800) 555-1212.

In order to receive the discount from GEICO, eligible policyholders will need to follow these two steps:

  1. Provide GEICO with a copy of the course completion certificate:
    • Via fax (516) 704-2511, attention: "Policy Processing" or

    • Mail to:
      GEICO
      Attn: Region 2 Policy Processing
      P. O. Box 9506
      Fredericksburg, Virginia 22403-9506

    • Be sure to include your policy number on all correspondence. Once the certificate has been processed, you will receive verification of the savings by mail.
  2. Submit all information within 90 days of the course completion in order to have the discount apply from the date the course was completed.

In New York, you may be eligible for this discount if:

  • You have completed and passed a course approved by GEICO and the National Safety Council (NSC).
