Soon after, he transitioned to liability claims as a claim service representative (CSR) and was later promoted to continuing unit examiner before moving into management as a CSR supervisor in 1998 and a CSR manager in 2003. Tims moved to GEICO's corporate headquarters in Chevy Chase, Maryland, in 2005, where he took on the role of director of claims performance review and then entered GEICO's Executive Assistant Program. Upon completing that management program, Tims became regional liability director for our regional office in Lakeland, Florida before returning to the Macon regional office in 2010.
In addition to his current role, Tims has been very involved in the company's social responsibility initiatives and presently serves as a board member for the GEICO Educational Foundation and the Harriet Tubman Museum in Georgia. He has served on several other community boards, including United Way of Central Georgia and the Urban League of Greater Atlanta.
Tims earned a bachelor's degree in political science from Georgia Southwestern State University College. He holds professional designations in Claims Law, Associate in Claims (AIC), and Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), which is widely seen as the most distinguished insurance designation.
