What is event insurance?

Planning a wedding, anniversary, or baby shower? We know planning events takes energy. Unfortunately, you can't plan for everything like extreme weather, accidents, or illness that could leave you in a tough spot. Luckily, event insurance can help protect your event! The two types of event insurance are liability and cancelation.

Why buy event insurance?

  • Many vendors don't offer refunds no matter the reason for cancellation or postponement.
  • A lot of venues require clients to purchase event liability insurance because they don't want to take on sole responsibility for damage to their property.
  • Homeowners insurance often doesn't provide enough protection. Typically, homeowners policies will only cover the event if it's located at the home of the host and will only cover event liability, not cancellation.

How much does event insurance cost?

Event Insurance can range from $75 to $235, depending on coverage limits and coverage options chosen. Liability limits start at $500,000 and liquor liability can be excluded if there is no alcohol being served at the event (lowering the premium).

Event cancellation insurance can start as low as $130. The cost is based on the overall wedding or special event budget, so you can make sure you have the most coverage for all of your deposits and expenses.

Event cancellation protection also covers additional expenses you may incur to avoid cancelling your event, and pays for other losses or damages, such as:
