I Am Ready: GEICO and Kids In Need Foundation donate more than 3,900 backpacks to students nationwide

Since 2021, insurer’s annual back-to-school supply drive has provided more than 84,000 backpacks to students across the country

The GEICO Philanthropic Foundation, with support from GEICO employees, donated more than 3,900 backpacks to students nationwide through the company’s annual I Am Ready back-to-school campaign.

For the second consecutive year, GEICO partnered with Kids In Need Foundation, a national nonprofit that provides school supplies and other resources to students. Throughout the summer, GEICO employees volunteered to pack and distribute backpacks to under-resourced schools in their communities.

“Every backpack packed, supply donated, and hour volunteered is worth celebrating,” said Alan Durand, GEICO’s Senior Director of Associate Experience. “Partnering with the Kids In Need Foundation lets our employees put that belief into action, and it's inspiring to see thousands of kids start the year with the tools and confidence to succeed.”

Since the campaign launched in 2021, the GEICO Philanthropic Foundation and GEICO employees have provided more than 84,000 backpacks to schools nationwide.

Employees have logged more than 8,500 volunteer hours this year across I Am Ready and other community initiatives, with a goal to log 9,000 volunteer hours in celebration of GEICO’s 90th anniversary.
