GEICO announces partnership with Operation Homefront to support the military community

WASHINGTON, D.C., Nov. 11, 2024—Today, GEICO announced a new partnership with Operation Homefront as part of the company's ongoing commitment to supporting the military and veteran community and their families. Through this new partnership, GEICO and its employees will support the organization's mission to build strong, stable, and secure military families by providing relief and recurring support through a variety of highly valued programs.

"When GEICO was founded as the Government Employees Insurance Company in 1936, military members were among our very first customers who trusted us to protect their families," said Frank Pickering, executive sponsor of GEICO's military employee resource group. "This Veterans Day, we're proud to honor that legacy by expanding our support of military families through our new partnership with Operation Homefront. For nearly 90 years, serving the military community has been fundamental to who we are, and today we're reinforcing that commitment to the brave men and women who defend our freedom—and the families who stand beside them."

The partnership will offer GEICO employees nationwide opportunities to volunteer and make an impact in the lives of military families and veterans through programs such as:

• Holiday Meals for Military®: providing essential support during the holiday season.
• Back-to-School Brigade®: helping military children start the school year prepared for success.
• Military Child of the Year® Awards: recognizing the positive impact that young people have made on their military families, schools and communities.
• Year-round volunteer opportunities: GEICO employees will volunteer via Operation Homefront's volunteer reserve program.

GEICO's new partnership with Operation Homefront kicks off this holiday season with hundreds of GEICO employees volunteering at Holiday Meals for Military® events. The GEICO Philanthropic Foundation will also provide new shoes to over 500 children through the Shoes That Fit program.

To further strengthen the company's commitment, the foundation has also made an initial contribution of $100,000 to Operation Homefront to support their programs that serve tens of thousands of military families each year.

Recognizing the extraordinary achievements and dedication of enlisted service members across all military branches

GEICO's new partnership with Operation Homefront is one of several programs the company has created to uplift the military and veteran community. In addition to GEICO's community support, the company continues to accept nominations for its 36th annual Military Service Awards program through Dec. 30, 2024. This distinguished program recognizes seven enlisted service members—one from each branch of the armed forces and the National Guard—who demonstrate exceptional leadership and community engagement. Each honoree receives a certificate of achievement and a cash honorarium from the foundation.
